Shared Language and Culture: Documenting and Creating Punjabi History in BC
Despite the vibrant literary community, robust Punjabi-language media sources, and the increasing availability of Punjabi language classes including at UBC, there has also been a marked loss of the language among Punjabi youth. The Punjabi Oral History Project was founded to address the need for support for Punjabi language in British Columbia, and to further develop the growing program in Punjabi Studies at UBC.

This is a mandatory course for MA students taken in Term 1 of Year 1 of the MA program. The Historiography seminar involves an intense introduction to varieties of historical writing and the philosophic assumptions behind historical thinking. The Comparative History courses are designed to broaden student’s knowledge and compensate for gaps created by specialization.
