The Department of History at the University of British Columbia stands in solidarity with our many students and colleagues who will participate, along with millions of others around the world, in the Global Climate Strike scheduled for Friday, September 27.
Inspired by the overwhelming scientific consensus that demands urgent action in response to our unprecedented planetary climate emergency, we join the call to ensure that no employees or students are penalized for participating in the Strike and pledge to inform students of Strike-related events via our departmental informational networks.
The Department invites students, staff, and faculty to join a rally that will take place at the Nest at 11:00 a.m. on the 27th, followed by a rally at Vancouver City Hall at 1:00 p.m. and a march from there to downtown Vancouver.
