The Canadian Historical Association Meeting at Congress
The Canadian Historical Association Annual Meeting is taking place during Congress at UBC between June 3rd and 5th. This is an exciting event for the UBC History community since it will attract 400 participants from universities across Canada and the world and offers an interesting program with 143 events focused on mostly Canadian topics. This year’s theme is “Conversations Across time, space, and culture in Vancouver.”

UBC History Highlights
UBC History’s Michel Ducharme, Associate Professor, has played a significant role in the organization of the meeting, taking on the role of program chair and local arrangement coordinator this year. Prof. Ducharme collaborated with a selected panel of 16 representatives from universities across Canada to complete a robust program.
UBC History Faculty members including Paige Raibmon, Laura Ishiguro, Tina Loo and Jessica Wang will lend their voices to sessions during the three day meeting.
A book launch for UBC Press books will take place on Tuesday, June 4th at 12pm-1:30pm in Buchanan D 130 (Meekison Lounge), highlighting three books from UBC History.

Laura Ishiguro, Nothing to Write Home About: British Family Correspondence and the Settler Colonial Everyday in British Columbia
Tina Loo, Moved by the State: Forced Relocation and Making a Good Life in Postwar Canada
Elder Elsie Paul, with Davis McKenzie, Paige Raibmon, and Harmony Johnson, As I Remember It Teachings (Ɂəms tɑɁɑw) from the Life of a Tla’amin (a multi-media, digital book that integrates photographs, audio, animations, videos, and text)

Featured Public Event at Congress
Teaching and Learning after the Truth and Reconciliation Commission workshop will take place on June 4th and June 5th and is open to the public. UBC History’s Paige Raibmon is one of the Interdisciplinary Organizers for this important event. The Canadian Historical Association is a sponsor for this workshop.
