Tara Mayer has been awarded $35,000 in funding by the Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies to convene an international conference on “Visual Literacy: Seeing, Making and Reading Images across the Disciplines.”
Organized jointly with Dominic Lopes (UBC Philosophy), the conference will explore how scholarship from within and beyond the humanities can combine to develop and promote a new “visual literacy” that responds to the challenges and opportunities of the ongoing information revolution.
The International Research Roundtable Awards are the Peter Wall Institute’s most competitive funding program, aimed at fostering excellence in research and serving as a catalyst for collaborative research between international scholars and UBC faculty.
