Dr. Benjamin Bryce Wins Ontario Historical Society’s Joseph Brant Award

Congratulations to Dr. Benjamin Bryce (UBC History, UBC Latin American Studies) on winning the 2022 – 2023 Joseph Brant Award for his monograph, The Boundaries of Ethnicity: German Immigration and the Language of Belonging in Ontario (McGill-Queen’s UP, 2022).

The Boundaries of Ethnicity focusses on German identity in Ontario in the period between 1880 and 1930. For the OHS Awards Committee, it “reveals an ethnicity that was fluid in nature, constantly interacting with other immigrant groups and those of different ethnic backgrounds to help lay the basis for Canadian multiculturalism and government policies around ethnic and religious diversity.”
