Edward Hundert was born in 1940 in New York City and grew up there. He received his PhD from the University of Rochester. Ed’s area of research interest was British intellectual history of the Enlightenment era. After teaching briefly at the University of Calgary, he began his career at UBC in 1966. His teaching in the Department of History included a popular course in European intellectual history. He was also passionately devoted to the Arts One program in which he repeatedly taught during his career at UBC. Ed was remembered as a demanding but profoundly inspiring teacher. He retired from UBC in 2000. He died in Vancouver on June 18, 2020.
