About

I study early modern East Asia with a focus on China. My current research centers on the rhetoric of empire during the Ming-Qing transition in a transnational context such as in Japan and Korea. In addition to biographies, chronicles, and gazetteers, I also use digital approaches to extract textual data based on specific wording in structured historical documents.
