About
Wei Wang (王葳) is a second-year Master’s student in the UBC history department. Her main research interests include the history of gender, the history of inequality, and material culture from the 17th to 20th centuries. Her current research focuses on state participation in gender-based human trafficking and enslavement during the Qing Empire.
Previously, Wei worked on a project titled “In Search of Ghost Silver: Subaltern Perspectives on 18th-Century Silver Mining in Southwest China”. This paper investigates the epistemology of mining among silver miners in 18th-century Southwest China through the lens of subaltern perspectives.
