 nd (Post-)Colonialisms in the Asia-Pacific Cluster is pleased to invite you
  to a seminar with Dr. Sherene Seikaly on her upcoming book project\, cente
 red around her article “Reading in Time” for the World Humanities Report. T
 his seminar will be held on <strong>Tuesday February 6<sup>th</sup>\, 3:00-
 4:00 pm\, in Buchanan Tower 1112.</strong> Refreshments will be provided.</
 p><p><strong><a href="https://www.history.ucsb.edu/faculty/sherene-seikaly/
 " target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Dr. Sherene Seikaly</a></strong
 > is Associate Professor of History at the University of California\, Santa
  Barbara. Her book <em>Men of Capital: Scarcity and Economy in Mandate Pale
 stine </em>(Stanford University Press\, 2016)<em> </em>explores economy\, t
 erritory\, the home\, and the body. Her forthcoming book\, <em>From Baltimo
 re to Beirut: On the Question of Palestine </em>tells a global history of c
 apital\, slavery\, and dispossession. She is the Director of the Center for
  Middle Eastern Studies at UCSB\, co-editor of the Stanford Studies Middle 
 Eastern and Islamic Societies and Cultures Series\, co-editor of <em>Journa
 l of Palestine Studies\, </em>and<em> </em>co-editor of <em>Jadaliyya</em>.
 </p><p>Interested participants should read the article <a href="https://wor

 ty_Seikaly.pdf">“Reading in Time”</a> in preparation for the discussion\, a
 nd are encouraged\, though not required\, to attend Dr Seikaly’s lecture on
  the same day at 12:00 pm (register <a href="https://ubc.ca1.qualtrics.com/
 jfe/form/SV_cInJTtxJLXPSE5w">here</a>).  A PDF version of the article will 
 also be distributed to those subscribed to the cluster mailing list.</p><p>
